That’s the corner of Greenwich “street” not “avenue” — an easy mistake to make. Should your cabbie drop you off at Greenwich Avenue, head west on Bank Street. This being the Village, Bank Street is interrupted by a charming park. Walk around the Park to Gristede’s supermarket on Hudson Street and continue one block on Bank Street.
If you’re planning on splurging on filet mignon and vintage wine, you can take the A,C, or E subway to the 14th Street Station. Walk down 8th Avenue until it crosses Hudson. Look for the Gristedes, and turn right onto Bank Street and walk one block to Greenwich Street.
If you’re taking the 1, 2, 3, or 9, try to get in one of the front cars. Get out at the W. 12th Street exit of the 14th Street stop. Turn right on to West 12th Street and walk over to 8th Avenue, then follow the directions above.
Lost? Ask any of the dozens of people you’ll see walking dogs! They’re Village people and they can happily point you in the right direction.
